$1000 testimonies were circling around school after Dave Harvey came into my first year class releasing the testimony over the school. I remember sitting in my seat thinking, “God, I want that!” God told me that day that the testimony was more than just a beautiful story, it was actually an act of love, from Him. I received the $1000 testimony five different times after that day.
Last year for missions I went to Uganda. Our team had to get shots for the trip and since Redding was out of the specific shots we needed, our team headed to Sacramento. We stopped at a Starbucks and I began playing my mini guitar, releasing peace into the atmosphere. An older Russian man walked up to me and asked what our team was doing there. I mentioned our team was traveling to Uganda to spread the love of Jesus. The man felt like a papa to me and I gave him a word that he was building more than buildings, he was building a legacy for his grandchildren. Come to find out, the man owned a construction company! The man was touched by the word and we said our goodbyes. He left Starbucks only to return a few minutes later with $1000 cash. He told me to use it for our missions trip!
The second time I received a $1000 testimony it was after Dave Harvey came into second year! I was touring the country teaching dance and doing ministry while also being in school. I was away on the weekends and it was tough to balance school and earning while traveling. A woman whose child I had taught came up to me and thanked me for teaching her kids. She asked me if there was anything I needed and I mentioned I was heading back to Africa and hadn’t brought it up to many people but I was in need of finances for the trip! She said she would pray and she walked away. A week later, the lady that was standing next to her reached out to me and sent me a $1000 gift for my missions trip!
The third time I received a $1000 was a month later around the time I needed money for a deadline! A friend of mine from Switzerland sent me $1000!
The fourth time I received a $1000 was the same month when I received $975.00 back from a deposit on an apartment I rented in NYC 5 years ago. (I asked God if this counted. He said it did!)
I found myself saying to God, “I’m good, i’ve had enough! You can give this story to someone else”. I started to think that someone else needed it more than me because it had happened three times!
Then, God, in His divine fashion, did it again.
I was in Revival Group and people were standing up who still needed finances for tuition. My tuition had not been paid off and I had to go into debt to be in school. The guy next to me in my RG leaned over to me and said, “Check your email.” In an instant he had paid off the exact amount needed to cover the rest of my tuition. There were moments where I wanted to just call these testimonies “good stories”. But who am I to condense the deity of God to just a “good story”. He is the author of time and the lover of my soul. I must lean into His provision in my life and believe that He always has every base covered. It doesn’t matter if the money is coming from your parents, a man in a coffee shop, or a student in your Revival Group. God is the giver of all good things and we get to lean back into his loving arms and rest in the many blessings He wishes to lavish upon us.
