At thirteen, I was being primed for a career in classical ballet when I received the devastating news I had rapidly progressing, degenerative scoliosis. I underwent invasive spinal surgery that involved the fusion of eight vertebrae, including bone grafting and the insertion of screws. My dreams of becoming a dancer were ruined and I have since lived in debilitating, chronic pain. To manage my condition, I started doing pilates. On a scale of one to ten, on days when I practiced pilates, my pain would range between a three and eight. On days I didn’t practice, it would range between an eight and ten. It hurt to move, it hurt to breathe, and it was certainly impossible to dance. Twenty years after my surgery, with my long list of related health problems, I visited a healing service.
When it was my turn to receive prayer, a member of the team told me God was showing him a picture of me submerged in a glass of water and he felt it was connected to the word “dissolve.” These healing services have seen many miracles, including metal dissolving in people’s bodies without a trace. With this in mind, he took a risk and asked me if I had any metal in my body. It hadn’t occurred to me to put this on my list, and I quickly let them know that I did indeed have a spine held together by metal.
At the front of the room, a team was joyfully dancing with flags. The prayer team brought me to them and they enveloped me in their dance, praying and speaking words of life and encouragement to me. Waves of peace washed over me. Suddenly, I realized I was no longer feeling any pain. I began to move and test my body, twisting my spine and bending backwards. To my astonishment, I had full range of motion! I could feel and engage the muscles around my original surgical incision, which had been numb for two decades! The whole area was absolutely pain free.
My response was, of course, to dance! After I was healed I joyfully joined the Bethel Church dance community and have had the opportunity to dance on stage during Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry worship. I am delighted to dance in my house and everywhere I go! It is my pleasure to dance continually in worship to the God who healed me and restored my destiny!
