At Westside Pizza in Redding, California, we deliver pizza with permission from our boss to pray for people, pull over and preach the gospel, and encourage our customers any way possible. Every time I can I present the good news about Jesus to our customers. I have seen people healed, I’ve spoken God’s powerful words of encouragement and comfort to people, and I’ve seen people decide to give their lives to Jesus all in a day’s work as a pizza delivery guy. At the restaurant we even pray over our pizza dough and have a story of someone getting healed from eating our pizza! Twenty-four hours a day the company has worship music playing, even when we’re closed in the middle of the night and nobody is there.
One night I was delivering pizza to an apartment complex I’d never been to before. As I was walking away from making my delivery, for some reason I felt I should just stand at the top of the stairs and wait. So I stood there with my pizza bag, feeling kind of awkward. A few moments later a woman who was sitting with her door opened yelled, “Hey, what are you delivering from?” I ran up to her and told her it was pizza. I felt she needed prayer, so I asked her if I could pray for her. She instantly began to open up about her life and the issues she was facing. I told her God loves her and I asked her if she knew Jesus. She said, “I know I’m lost and I need to get saved.” I said, “Look, it’s not about a ticket from hell. It’s a relationship with Jesus.” God’s grace came over her and she looked up at me and said, “Man, that’s good!” and then invited Jesus into her life.
Another night at work, this family from out of town came in to our restaurant because they heard we give powerful encouraging words from God to our customers along with their pizza. Two women wanted me to prophesy to the man they were with. He didn’t know it but they were pointing at him. “How’s it going, man?” I asked. He said, “What was that? I can’t hear you.” Turned out he actually couldn’t hear out of his left ear so he asked me to speak into his right ear.
I asked if I could pray for him and put my hand on his left ear. He began to physically feel the Holy Spirit touching him. He closed his eyes and felt peace and began to sway. As I finished, I asked him, “How’s it going, man?” He said, “Dude, my ear’s opening up. I feel it popping and expanding!” He said he could hear way more than he could before. He was in shock and I was too!
For me, these stories are not just about partnering with God in the workplace, this is my lifestyle.
