While evangelizing in downtown Houston, my wife, our friend Michael, and I were drawn to a young man walking with a slight limp. We approached the man and asked him how he was doing. In the spirit, God showed me the number 43 or 83 (I don’t recall) and then the name Johnson on the back of a football jersey. I asked the man if he played football and if the number and the name Johnson meant anything to him. He said that Johnson was his last name and that the number was his jersey number when he used to play football before suffering a terrible knee injury!
God also showed me a picture of the man running routes and catching passes as well as a red football helmet with UH on it. I said, “You were a Cougar and a wide receiver for the University of Houston before you tore your MCL and ACL in an accident!”
“Yes, I was,” he replied, “Who are you and how did you know that?”
I responded, “We are Christians and I knew those details because God highlighted you and provided me with those words of knowledge.”
Next, I introduced my wife, Olivia, and my friend Michael. We asked if we could pray for his knee and he agreed. We laid hands on his knee, commanded pain to go and healing to come and asked him to test it out. When he did, he realized he was healed and his limp was completely gone.
We asked if we could pray a blessing over him. He agreed and we gathered in a small circle, we lowered our heads and we prayed. When we opened our eyes, the young man pointed to a plaque that was embedded in the concrete slab that we were standing on. It was a memorial plaque of the University of Houston football stadium. “Oh my God!” he screamed, “This is unbelievable!”
We hugged him and witnessed to him some more before Michael led him to his salvation! What a remarkable God we serve!
