On a Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry ministry trip in Sydney, Australia, a twenty-two-year-old woman asked me to pray for her sleep. Without her telling me anything more, God told me she suffered from nightmares so I asked her, “Are you fearful about going to sleep because of your nightmares?” God’s word was accurate and I led her through a prayer to break the agreement she’d made in her heart to stay awake in order to avoid fear.
She had suffered from sleep-related problems from a young age, including night terrors, nightmares, insomnia, parasomnia, restless legs, anxiety, panic attacks and delayed sleep-phase syndrome. Earlier this year, she participated in a sleep study that showed she would wake up as many as sixty-eight times each night, compared with approximately three to six times for the average person.
As she left, the word “in-discourageable” popped into my head so I told her, “God is asking you to be in-discourageable! No matter what happens, refuse to be discouraged by your circumstances!”
A few weeks later I received a glorious email. Since the day she requested prayer, the woman has slept peacefully, waking refreshed and able to handle a five-day workweek for the first time in her life. Her radical healing has made her a walking testimony of God’s goodness, one that has impacted her community as they witness her enjoying the abundant life God has for her.
