Last week for ministry, we wanted to do an evangelistic outreach asking Holy Spirit for specific things to look for and prepare some graffiti and rap with messages from God for the people we met. As we were preparing as a ministry team, we ran out of time, so we decided to do the evangelistic outreaches as a homework assignment for the upcoming week.
After our ministry meeting, I went to my friend’s house to pick him up so we could go lift weights together. The whole time we were together, I kept asking him if he wanted to get some food at a restaurant. Finally, when I told him I would pay for him, he agreed to join me.
When we got to the restaurant, we ran into three teenagers who started making fun of us and our workout clothes. I was trying to decide whether I should let my sarcastic self respond or if I should ask them if they were hungry. I chose to ask them if they were hungry.
We went inside, and I told the lady who was running the cash register that I was going to pay for all five of us. As she was ringing up the order, we started talking, and I asked her for her name. Her name was Silvia-one of the four names I had put on my list of things Holy Spirit told me to look for. When she told me her name, I understood God was up to something.
My friend was talking to the three guys, and as I was paying, one of them came over and showed me some
graffiti he had done on his phone. Another guy was listening to rap on his phone. Those were two of the clues we’d had on our list.
I started talking to the guys, telling them that since I had just bought their meals, they should allow me to speak life into them. I asked them how high school was going, and they were surprised that I knew they were in high school. God showed me details about what year they were in and their ages, and they were curious how I knew all this information about them.
One of them had showed us his tattoo on his forearm and had talked to us about his new earrings. Those were two specific details I had written on my list from Holy Spirit as well. Then I got specific words from Holy Spirit about their pasts, and they could confirm what I said about them. They were so touched by this that they started to cry. After I’d shared with two of them, the third guy asked me to speak “life” into his life as well.
At the end, my friend got to pray with them, and all three of them accepted Jesus into their lives.
After all this had happened, their response was, “Because of you, I am going to have a great day.” Earlier that morning, I had written on Facebook, “Daily I choose to walk in my identity, and if I choose not to, I will rob both you and me from having a good day.”
