While preparing for our mission trip to Asia this year, I knew I needed to get a new telephoto lens for my camera. It had been dropped, and the autofocus no longer worked. I was excited about taking pictures on this trip and wanted to make the most of the experience. However, in the run-up to departure day, things got busy, and I didn’t have the opportunity to go to the camera shop and pick up a new lens. Time just ran out. I threw the old lens in the bag anyway since it was still partially usable manually.
On the trip, I started taking tons of pictures with my regular lens and then switched over to the telephoto lens, just snapping away without even thinking about it until I got back home that evening. The autofocus was suddenly working and had been working all day! Throughout the entire trip it worked perfectly, and I got all the fantastic shots I wanted.
Upon returning home, I went to take pictures of my puppies, and the lens didn’t work anymore. It worked only when I was in Asia. The Lord knew I was really looking forward to taking pictures on the trip and, because He is a good God, made that happen for me. I didn’t even see it as a miracle at the time. I was just surprised that it was working and thought to myself, Wow, that’s cool-I can take all these pictures now.
It wasn’t until I got home that I realized the gift God had given me-a working telephoto lens for my trip. Thanks, God!
