At the beginning of a mission trip to Australia, while on the bus, one of my teammates saw a license plate on a car with the numbers 133. He shouted out, “Hey! That is the same Scripture reference that God has been speaking to me about leading up to this trip. Psalm 133!”
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
For brothers to dwell together in unity!
It is like the precious oil upon the head,
Coming down upon the beard,
Even Aaron’s beard,
Coming down upon the edge of his robes.
It is like the dew of Hermon
Coming down upon the mountains of Zion; For there the Lord commanded the blessing- life forever.
-Psalm 133
I felt led to share with the students about how our Western minds have interpreted this Scripture: “Where people unify, God commands a blessing.” I began to explain that the way Hebrews thought was actually circular, and another way to look at this passage is, “Where God pours out the blessing or His presence, people gather around Him in unity!” This was a real encouragement for our team, and it felt as if God was truly going to use this revelation.
A few days later we flew to a city in Victoria to begin four days of ministry, and we began to see this revelation come to pass. The city we were visiting, like many other cities, had experienced its fair share of church splits and church divisions over the years. But when Jesus’ presence came, He began knitting people together as brothers and sisters! As He continually poured out His power and healing, each meeting grew in size. People from multiple denominations began coming together from all around the city, uniting as if they were one family! This continued into the final night, when more than 500 people from different churches met inside the building. God’s presence began knocking people over, changing metal rods in backs, and healing many different diseases.
In the middle of all of this incredible breakthrough, a teenage girl stepped into the building. She came to church that night not because she was interested in church or God (she actually wanted nothing to do with either), but because she needed to get the house keys from her mother, who was in the meeting.
As soon as the young woman stepped into the building, she fell to the ground under the presence and power of God. Immediately she went into a vision and was taken into Heaven where she met Jesus face to face. Jesus then began to take her through her whole childhood, setting her free from the pain and abuse she had suffered. Her life was completely liberated within seconds. When she awoke from this incredible encounter, not only were her spirit and soul healed, but she gave her life to Jesus!
