I was at the station waiting with a friend of mine, when God let me feel a pain in my back that I knew wasn’t mine. We approached a guy our age whose name was Mark. I asked him if by any chance he had pain in his back. He looked at us a bit confused but after a few seconds he shared that he had had pain in his lower back earlier that day! He let us pray for him, but when we asked him to check it he was a bit vague and didn’t want to accredit this to God. That was not a problem, however, because the word of knowledge still gave us a chance to ask him about Jesus. He told us that he was a muslim and for that reason didn’t believe the same way we did. He did however agree that Jesus is also mentioned in the Quran as “Isa”.
He tested us a bit, but in reality the Holy Spirit kept knocking on Mark’s heart-door. “Jesus showed me that you’re going to be promoted to a team-leader in your store,” I told him. Mark told us he indeed worked in a store, but we could see he wasn’t sure about the promotion and doubted it. He kept his cool and didn’t feel too much like giving in. “Even if you don’t admire to be promoted, I believe God is going to give it to you to show you His love.” By now our train was approaching but God had one final cherry on the cake for Mark. During our last sentences with each other, the attention was drawn to the bench Mark was sitting on.
Next to Mark’s left foot we saw that ‘Isa’ had been carved into a tile! Full of amazement, joy and hurry at the same time we told Mark, “Jesus sees you sitting here and He loves you, He showed you right under your legs, look!” I saw Mark was touched and undone when we said bye and walked to our train. Mark was a tough guy and didn’t give in quickly, but the Holy Spirit was so gracious and persisted with three different signs to open his heart and let us plant a seed. Wow, another day in the kingdom! Whether the Isa sign was there already we will probably never know, we ourselves went by the bench on our way back later that night, just too see it on more time and capture the evidence.
