This past week brought in drastically smaller paychecks for my husband. With hardly enough to make ends meet, we were then overdrawn when a large bill cleared the bank, along with a nice $30 overdraft fee. Everything from the next check went to payback the overdraft balance and fee, leaving us with just $100 left to live on (in Hawaii) for the next week. That quickly began to dwindle again as basic expenses came along. So we prayed together – something my husband and I have been terrible at remembering to do for a while! But together we prayed like Jehoshaphat did, remembering the faithfulness of our God in past seasons of financial hardship, telling him all the miraculous wonders he did to provide…..I said, “God, we need money again. Will you not provide like you did over and over before?” A sense of stillness and peace came over me and I felt that He was listening very intently to our cry and was about to do something.
Two days after that prayer, I got a call from the manager of a restaurant I applied to months ago. She hired me on the spot over the phone and said I can start as soon as I can and offered to hold the position until then! Today, my father in law checked his post office box (we have our own mailbox) and came home with an unusual envelope addressed to my husband. We were slow to open it thinking it would be an unexpected big bill. Instead, we got a check from a class action settlement involving our bank! This settlement requires the bank to pay back the $30 in overdraft fees unfairly charged to customers since 2011! Apparently we were on that list at some point, but with God’s perfect timing we received it the same week we had to pay an over draft fee! He provides in the most incredible and unconventional ways!
