I was with a team ministering at a church in New Castle, Indiana. During the meeting, we saw about 80 percent of the people in the room receive healing that they experienced in their bodies. The faith in the room was very high, and we felt as if anything was possible. One of the pastors at the church decided to call his son, who was paralyzed, so I could pray for him. A month earlier, his son had been working out and heard something pop in his back. Within 24 hours he was completely paralyzed from the waist down, and the doctors didn’t know why.
We put his son on speakerphone and prayed for him. I asked everyone to extend their hands toward him and pray. He said he felt some tingling at the base of his tailbone. I encouraged him to continue believing God for healing and keep checking his body to see if anything was changing.
He believed God, and the church continued to pray for him. One day in early January, he had a dream with the date January 23 in it. The Sunday after he’d had this dream, a little four-year-old boy at church told him that he would walk on a Thursday. The little boy’s mother said that as their family was praying for him and singing praise songs in their home, she asked her son if God was saying anything to him, and the boy replied that he was going to walk on a Thursday.
He realized that January 23 was a Thursday, and he believed that he would regain feeling in his legs on that day. On Wednesday evening, January 22, he didn’t sleep because he wanted to be awake when it happened. Around 3:00 a.m. he felt tingling in his toes and then intense pain that started in his feet and moved up into his hips over the next hour and a half. All of a sudden, he could move his legs, so he got out of bed and walked into his parents’ bedroom!
It is easy to get discouraged when we don’t see an instant miracle. If I don’t see something tangible in the moment, I always try to stay actively connected to faith in my heart and mind and be thankful for what God is doing. I encourage other people to do the same, and it is what I did in this situation. This testimony is a great example of this principle in action.
