On morning, halfway through a mission trip in Mexico City, my alarm went off and I awoke with the feeling I had nothing left within me to give to the people. I felt led to read 1 John 4, and my gaze immediately fell on verse 19: “We love, because He first loved us.” I felt completely intoxicated with the love of the Lord as He began to tell me it was never His intention that I would have to give to anyone without first receiving His love.
That day I had the honor of taking a team of five to a church plant, where we were supposed to lead a meeting of 80 to 100 women. During worship, the glory of God fell in the room in such a tangible manner that we all had physical symptoms. I personally felt as if someone had put a blow torch to my head, and when I looked around to see if there were any natural causes, none could be found. All our plans for ministry were abandoned when I realized that God had a different plan. At the end of the worship time, we simply stood at the front of the church and announced that the presence of His love was there, and that God was crazy about these women. As soon as the word loco was said, the glory of God fell in that room in a way I had never experienced in any service. The presence of God was so strong and the fear of the Lord so present that none of us could continue running the service. All we did was watch as the Lord moved amongst the crowd. Spontaneous laughter broke out across the whole room and was accompanied by tears. Every person in the room was touched through a life-changing encounter with God. Not a person was missed.
It felt as if we were watching a moment of history unfold before our eyes. The team and I later read through some of the testimony slips that had been filled out after the morning service and after an evening service of around 500 people, when God had moved in a similar way. People testified to being healed of major diseases during the time when the ministry team had simply stood in silence, in awe of the Lord. The reports declared healings from throat cancer, liver cancer, depression, arthritis, and much more. There were more than 70 healings in all. None of us will ever forget that day. We simply watched God do everything!
