When I was five years old I found out I was adopted. I knew my biological mom, but I never knew who my biological dad was.
One Monday at BSSM, one of our school pastors, Dave Harvey, shared about the power of testimonies. Twelve months prior, one of his students had had a dream about lost things being returned. The following week, a student in his class found his Simpson University dorm key, and a pet turtle that had been lost for three months suddenly appeared unharmed! Dave said he’d been sharing these testimonies with his current students, and as a result, people were receiving things they had lost. One couple had stolen items returned to their house, and another had been given back his family inheritance.
I said to myself, halfway joking, it would be cool to receive an inheritance.
I went home that day and started feeling weird, so I stayed home from school the next day. Out of nowhere, my mom texted me the name of my biological dad. I could not believe it. I looked for him on Facebook, found him, and sent him a message. A few minutes later, a message popped up from him. He said he had wanted to talk to me for a long time. I was about to message him my number, but before I could, he gave me his.
A few days later we talked for the first time, and he told me how his friends had been showing him pictures of me and telling him about me my whole life. He then proceeded to invite me to spend Christmas with him and his new family. So I did!
With nervous excitement, I travelled to spend one of the most special times of the year with my new dad and my newfound six brothers and sisters, and it was great!
After 19 years of wondering who my biological dad was, then hearing one testimony and receiving it in a halfway joking way, within weeks my whole life was changed. I am amazed that I have received an inheritance of not only getting my biological dad back, but also gaining a whole new family.
I now have 11 brothers and sisters. I never thought that would happen!
