As I was walking with a friend, we passed a guy, and my friend said, “I think God wants to encourage that guy.” So, we turned around and greeted him. My friend told him how he felt like God wanted to encourage him, and he asked if the guy needed prayer for anything.
He responded by explaining that our timing was perfect. He was just looking at his schedule and was worrying about his career, and needed some encouragement and peace about what he was doing.
The guy told us that he was a yo-yo performer. He once won a high-level yo-yo competition and decided to pursue a career as a performer. He was finally gaining momentum, and showed us how full his schedule was going to be the next couple months. His concerns were in his ability to handle the sudden busyness, but also in being able to sustain the momentum and keep booking gigs.
We prayed over him, encouraged him, and shared the Father’s heart for him. He told us that he doesn’t believe in coincidences, and that our timing felt like a sign, and we agreed. He was so excited and appreciative that he said, “I have to show you guys what I can do!” He grabbed a yo-yo and gave us a mini-performance.
Encouraging people is simple and easy, and it gives them life. That life overflows in the things that they do, and they release life to others around them. We can help the whole world shine if we simply learn to love one another.
