I work with a company called the STEM program, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. With STEM, we basically consult for the school. I don’t do math-this is all consulting with words from God. I say, “Okay, God. I need some ideas.”
We are teaching children how to do computer code, computer animation, and use Lego robotics. The kids are creating all kinds of things, and they’re super passionate about it! Some of these kids have been diagnosed with ADHD, Autism, put on medications, and their parents said they are really socially awkward. But through this program, the kids see something they love and really who they are. It’s exciting because those diagnoses are just lies. We’re all fearfully and wonderfully made.
One kid who came in doesn’t talk at all. They don’t know what’s wrong with him. But he’ll sit down at a computer, and this kid is a genius. He’s gone beyond what our director can do. It’s exciting to see that. Many of the kids are transforming. It’s teaching them how to think, create, and use their minds.
We were invited to a middle school and met with the principal. This school has a state-of-the-art theater, so they run all kinds of music productions. One night, every high school in the district was there doing a performance. We were invited by the principal to attend. All of the schools’ superintendents were there as well, and they were shaking our hands. The principal had been “spying” on STEM, and he was really impressed.
He said, “I’m going after this, and you guys are doing an amazing job, and I want to partner with you, and I want you to come into my school.” The principal got a huge grant, and he invited us to take over his program. He said he’s going to begin sending all the people to us. He also gave us full use of his campus so we can do whatever we want. It is crazy favor!
God is opening doors and helping kids as I partner with His ideas and our science programs.
