On a trip to Portland, Oregon our mission trip team prayed for a young lady named Katie who works as the registrar at a Christian school. While we were praying God gave me a very specific vision for Katie. In the vision, I saw myself in a room with a door opened up to another land with mountains and dirt. I told Katie the dirt represented resources, and when I went to scoop up the soil it automatically replenished itself, showing we can take from God’s resources and He will replenish it. I also told Katie she has access to God’s checkbook and should ask for big things and God would show her His goodness. A couple of weeks after we left she sent this email:
When your team was with me I didn’t tell you I also work for a nonprofit organization and the week before you prayed for me I had been promoted to Development Director. When the man from your team told me about the vision he had I felt it was confirmation for me because my main responsibility in my new role is to ask for resources from our partners.
So, here’s the cool part. For several months we have been fundraising for a new boys’ dormitory at our orphanage in Haiti. Last Wednesday, I sent an email telling our partners we had successfully raised $30,000 out of $57,000! I honestly thought we would continue to raise the funds at a slow and steady pace. Tuesday I had planned to meet with two other staff to strategize how to raise the remaining $27,000. However, when we checked the mail that morning to see if anything else had come in, we saw a letter from a donor who had wanted to give but hadn’t yet. When we opened it up we found a check for exactly what we needed, $27,000! It was just so awesome I had to share. Thank you all for what you do!!!
